In 2 short years, brothers Rachi and Shimmy Messing have changed the contract reviewer market with their ALTorney platform. This realization hit me while I was drafting an RFP for a global corporate managed service contract. I realized that I did not really care whether the provider had a stable of contract reviewers who spoke Bahasa or Portuguese because I knew that my client could find those reviewers on ALTorney in minutes. I caught up with the Messing brothers at Relativity Fest to understand the rapid adoption of the ‘Tinder for Reviewers’ (my allusion, not theirs) and where the platform is going.
First I made Shimmy give me his high level pitch:
ALTorney is continuously expanding its innovative self-service platform for legal talent sourcing and management. Renowned for providing transparent, direct, and rapid access to attorney populations for review and more, Altorney also boasts an impressive suite of management tools, including chat, e-forms, and Relativity integrations. These features facilitate:
- Easy user management
- Efficient time approval and reconciliation
- Advanced case metrics
- You can assemble your ideal dream team whenever you need them using the Favorites feature, and gain valuable insights and metrics at the organizational, case, and reviewer levels.
Now my takeaways:
- Transparent, flat 25% cost on top of attorney rate for billing, invoices and administrative services
- Match immediately on availability, rates, areas of expertise, languages, certifications/platforms, conflicts and other facets to bypass the tedium of CV review
- Maintain a list of ‘favorite’ reviewers and easily invite known talent to payroll through platform with a single email.
- Staff your project without sales reps and all the usual communication overhead
- Now that the platform is proven with reviewers they are looking to expand to project managers and other areas of expertise
- Nifty Uber-style 2 way rating system
- International expansion with customers and review pools in UK, EU countries, Canada and more
