Relatively few new features introduced in the month following Ignite, but the theme is Copilot summarization/recap of meetings, documents and more. It will become all too easy for meeting organizers or document collaborators to forward Copilot recaps or conversions without reviewing them for accuracy. eDJ has seen these recaps actually reverse counsel statements (i.e. DO this instead of DO NOT do this) in pilot testing. While generative AI content will continue to get better, users need clear policies and training to properly use these tools. 469031 | 5 | Expanded, standardized export options and capabilities in the new eDiscovery hub for Standard and Premium customers. See the blog on the new Hub for details. | Microsoft Purview compliance portal: eDiscovery – EXPORT ENHANCEMENTS | With the export of data being one of the core fundamentals of the solution, Microsoft Purview eDiscovery team is excited to announce significant changes coming to the export feature along with the new user experience in purview.microsoft.com. Key changes with export enhancements: The biggest change being introduced is that with the new user experience for eDiscovery where Standard and Premium cases have unified structure, the export is also aligned for both the streams – thereby providing a singular experience to customers. The behavior is now unified across all export jobs – same download experience, some report experience, same error messages. For Standard customers, the need to install a clickonce application in their machine and use that tool to download data for exporting in azure storage is history. Now, in the new experience, customers don’t need to install the app anymore and can download directly through browser. Additionally, customers will experience a faster export capability in the new portal driven through enhancements in backend architecture and optimized partition. | Microsoft Purview compliance portal | Preview, General Availability | 12/1/2024 | 11/16/2024 |

467254 | 3 | Finally getting capability to set mass default sensitivity labels based on SharePoint library locations vs. older policy scopes. | Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – SharePoint Online extends library permissions to downloaded files. | This new capability ties together SharePoint Online library permissions with Purview sensitivity labeling and protection. SharePoint Online document library owners can set a label on the library, automatically applying that label to all unprotected and unlabeled Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files at rest in the target library. This simplifies labeling in bulk across document libraries in an organization. This capability also helps protect files as they egress from the original document library, such as for collaboration purposes or attempted exfiltration. Files downloaded from these libraries are protected at download. Users accessing these files outside of SharePoint Online have their rights evaluated in real time against the online copy of the document. Changes to user permissions on the online copy of the document are reflected on downloaded copy, including full access removal. This provides a more streamlined way to revoke access to documents for individual users, versus revoking access on a per-document basis. | Microsoft Purview compliance portal | General Availability, Preview | 3/1/2025 | 11/8/2024 |
