When I joined the then Symantec PM team over two decades ago, it had been my dream to unify the solutions for universal discovery and governance in place. It looks like the enterprise team and technology are catching up to that dream now that most of the enterprise content has migrated to the cloud.
With Alta, Veritas reportedly has consolidated their cloud offerings under a unified management console to give customers a single pane of glass across their data estate.

Our biggest plays for Veritas Alta eDiscovery (VAD) center around how our “UPSTREAM eDISCOVERY” enables Veritas to be the leader in:
- content aggregation with Alta Capture to collect all relevant data for your discovery/investigation requests
- discovery at source (early data assessment) with Alta Data Insight (Analytics) to give deep analysis of data at source BEFORE collections
- metadata enrichment via machine learning in Alta Classification to provide early case assessment before review
Unifying our portfolio under Alta positions Veritas to be the leader on the left-side of the EDRM when you include content capture and archiving. Under the Alta unified compliance and governance solution in the cloud, we present an enterprise way of doing eDiscovery.
The market is certainly hungry for a ‘single pane of glass’ into their divergent data assets. If Veritas can deliver on the unified portal with bidirectional connectors to all of the primary customer cloud repositories, they may indeed deliver on that long ago promise of ‘in-place eDiscovery’.
