I have a confession. Except for a few panel invitations, I have opted out of pretty much every virtual eDiscovery/IG industry, association or customer conference since the pandemic started. Despite some excellent content and exciting trends, I missed walking the exhibit hall, bumping into old/new friends and the networking gatherings where I could make real connections. To be fair, I have been buried in new projects that seemed more important. If I was going to spend 8+ hours in my monitor pit, I wanted it to be billable time. That is why I was excited to realize that Legalweek had committed to being in-person. I understand and appreciate why Relativity Fest and other premiere conferences had to go virtual. January feels far enough out for those of us who have been vaccinated and possibly boosted to attend with reasonable precautions. Everyone has a different risk tolerance and mine threshold has been pretty high with relatives in chemo or otherwise immune-compromised. As we transition from pandemic to endemic practices I hope that I will be able to see many of you in New York next year.

Legalweek 2022 has consolidated from the individual conferences it had spawned. So one pass for all sessions and content again. Further, the are launching three new session formats inspired by TED Talk variations and the Pecha Kucha storytelling format. These sound so much better than panels of talking heads (guilty as charged) droning on for 45 minutes. Solo presentation in a tight format forces a presenter to be clear and focused. With three months to plan, I hope to do as many briefings and 1-1 meetings as possible this year. Fingers crossed for good weather so that many of them can be outdoors as practical. Email me if you will be there and would like to catch up.
