First, I would like to thank the following Judges for sharing their perspectives during the Judicial Roundtable:

  • The Honorable John M. Facciola; United States Magistrate Judge in the District of Columbia
  • The Honorable David J. Waxse, United States Magistrate Judge in the District of Kansas
  • The Honorable Nora Barry Fischer, United States Judge in the Western District of Pennsylvania

The Judges added much insight on Rules 26(g) and 502 and talked about how important cooperation between parties will be in order for matters to be handled efficiently.  One of the statements I found most interesting from Judge Facciola was that hiding anything for fear of disclosure later (about the Predictive Coding process/technology) is not smart – the scientific process requires of documentation of how you got to where you are.  Sage advice, indeed.

I would also like to thank some facilitators that were in the audience and were able to bring real world experience to the Boot Camp.  Thomas Gricks, III of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, Graham Rollins of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, and Robert Keeling of Sidley Austin all provided great context to the material that Karl was teaching.

Most gratifying of all is that the attendees agreed that the session was valuable.  One attendee, Amy L. Bowser-Rollins, was kind enough to say, “I really appreciated all of the hard work that went into the presentation materials. I could tell that there was a focus on teaching.”   You can see Amy’s full review of the Boot Camp at: http://litigationsupportguru.com/a-boot-camp-worth-attending
