An “eDJ Brief” is our short write up of biannual free product briefings that eDJ will do for any product that may impact the markets we cover. We have found that forcing a provider to speed demo their product in half an hour generally makes them get to their differentiators. The eDJ Brief is meant to help you understand where the product fits and our top take-aways rather than a traditional product review.

Company: Mindseye – eDJ Company Profile

Offering: TunnelVision 4.0 – eDJ Offering Profile

Briefing by: Bob Krantz – CEO; Jeff Fehrman – Chief Strategy Officer

Date: February 11, 2014

Overview:

I first encountered TunnelVision back in 2009 during a process assessment for an AmLaw 200 firm. They were an early adopter using TunnelVision 1.0 for email culling to cut the volume going into Clearwell by 40-60%, an easy ROI for the tool back then. TunnelVision 4.0 delivers a completely new HTML5 user interface with automated workflow and a ‘visual navigation dashboard’. The Mindseye team sought to create a better vehicle for finding data that matters driven by a small number of knowledge workers rather than large review teams. So the focus is on dynamic presentation of multiple data profile facets such as chronology, custodians, concepts and more on one dashboard. This ‘eDiscovery cockpit’ can be intimidating at first, especially to non-technical prospective buyers. Mindseye and their channel partners will have to find the right sales strategy to demonstrate clear usage scenarios and ROI. That being said, TunnelVision 4.0 joins the select group of processing/ECA tools with fully integrated analytics, universal accessibility and dynamic visual navigation dashboards.

Key Notes:

  •  Analytics – full integration with Content Analyst for true dynamic canopy clustering (multiple concepts per item). No additional analytics fees or multiple, conflicting search indexes.
  • Automated workflow – enhanced pre-processing collection profiling, insight before ingestion.
  • Multi-matter management  through bi-directional communication with review platforms to leverage work product across cases.
  • Active in Microsoft partner network. Indicated that 25% of prospects report active data on Office 365.
  • Large service provider channel network to drive development and test the product.
