Topic: General-Processing ECA Date: 2014-01-14 12:50:32

eDJ has heard from Ringtail 8.0 customers that FTI has been selling Nuix for processing-ECA of raw ESI over their own processing module (derived from the old Attenex Workbench). The majority of the review platforms now include integrated ESI processing capabilities. Depending on Nuix or any third party technology poses a potential threat FTI in the long term. In the short term, FTI has replaced a venerable processing engine with poor performance with a next generation processing/indexing system that reportedly has the fastest ESI ingestion on the market. All of this is worth consideration from existing and new Ringtail customers.

Beginning with Ringtail 8: Integration of Mapper into the browser and tighter integration have the brought the production capabilities of Ringtail into the Mapper clusters for production of those documents. With Mapper's move to the browser and upgrades in 8.3, clustering is 10 times faster than before browser integration, according to FTI.

Ringtail 8.3 is available from FTI as SAAS - hosted on their "captive cloud".

Ringtail still requires data to be loaded from a MS Access / .mdb file Ringtail format. Processing in this format is available from many vendors and from FTI, however, it is not a default export option for all processing apps. FTI plans to phase this out at some point with a data processing model currently in development. As of Feb. 2013 we are not privy to the ETA.

FTI's new SaaS offering seems to still be based on a traditional server-service architecture versus a true distributed cloud service architecture that allows for greater scalability, dynamic performance and rapid implementation. This offering is a definite step forward to reaching the SMB direct sales market, but will have a much higher operational overhead and potential scale issues until they break the old server architecture.

Adds the capability to dynamically cluster and present in DocMapper visualization from search results or other analytic facets. This no longer requires a specific set to be processed to get this refined conceptual visualization.
