DTI's regular press releases on managed service contracts confirm one of eDJ's 2012 trends, the transition from project bids to dedicated preferred provider contracts. Long term relationships with savvy consumers like Dupont and Bimgham McCutchen LLP demonstrate that the top of the eDiscovery market is investing in eDiscovery as a business process. However, press releases should be read carefully. In the later two examples, neither relationship was stated to be exclusive or encompassing the full eDiscovery lifecycle. That tells a discriminating reader that both of these large consumers have multiple preferred providers and have not put their eDiscovery eggs in one basket.
