Although eDJ received reports from kCura competitors regarding memory errors that limited processing performance, eDJ actively polled our professional network and found nothing to substantiate the rumors. Instead, we heard that the processing module functioned as advertised in a simple workflow. kCura affirmed to eDJ that their initial goal "was to provide an easy-to-use, point-and-shoot solution that was integrated with the Relativity UI, allowing you to quickly process data sets directly into a review workspace." eDJ keeps hearing that 'Relativity processing is not taking off' from kCura competitors, but the real question is whether their processing module meets the simpler requirements of corporate customers to expand their market share. kCura reports 56 processing module customers/subscriptions since the product release 18 months ago. Given kCura's dominance of the hosted review platform market, that indicates a slow initial adoption/upsell rate amongst the large service providers, but perhaps that was not kCura's target with the processing module acquisition.

The Relativity processing engine is based on the Invariant software acquired from iDiscover Global. kCura has integrated that processing to into the Relativity platform. Relativity Processing is two-fold—the underlying technology (Invariant) and the front-end workflow (Relativity).

The new Relativity processing engine requires you to license and install every application for which you want to process files; this is necessary for native imaging.

Interview with Eric Mandell - V7 – all fields in on DB. Max characters in table. Clients exceeding table max in characters by 200+% routinely Can restrict indexing, but limits search. V8 – broke out values into own tables, but Fields are not their own tables. Enormous issues with large databases (2-3M records). Having to rebuild fields in live databases to accommodate database schema change. 350+ fields, 200+ are actually production fields. Sounds like they are trying to accommodate a multi-matter structure. Productions create new field with values. So bad usability. Issues with overlapping productions. Customer dissatisfaction with product not understanding real world usage cases and impact of customer stories.

Customers have reported issues where the production features have caused an exceptionally large number of new fields to be created, causing usability and scalability issues. This seems to be a table design issue.

• Ability to use the dynamic database building blocks is very powerful. Besides providing out-of-the box database tables and relationships with different views for different parts of the eDiscovery review process, Relativity allows you to add new, custom fields in table-like groups and relate those tables to other tables you create or are already available in the application. As such, it is possible to really customize the review offering (whereas most are fairly locked down).
